Marie's Cathedral in Manchester. We will also have additional performances of this concert at the Methuen Memorial Music Hall.  Free streaming for the May 19 performance in Methuen (3:00 pm) will be at https://www.youtube.com/@MethuenMemorialMusicHall

French Fantasies

This concert promises an exciting and varied journey through the masterworks of French Romanticism. Opening with Berlioz's vivacious "Roman Carnival Overture", the performance carries listeners on a wave of Italianate joy and exuberance. The mood turns contemplative with Lili Boulanger's "D'un soir triste", an emotionally profound piece, inviting introspection and a melancholic reflection. This is followed by Guilmant's "Fantaisie Triomphale", a work showcasing the organ's majesty through its triumphant, soaring themes. The grand finale is Saint-Saëns's Symphony No. 3, "Organ Symphony", which beautifully integrates the pipe organ with the orchestra, creating a symphony bursting with invention and drama. The concert promises a harmonious blend of joy, melancholy, triumph, and drama, offering an exhilarating journey through some of the greatest masterpieces of French Romantic music.
